GUIDE
How to change the mouse cursor color on Windows 11
This guide is about color. If your pointer is simply too small, see Windows 11 cursor too small? How to make the mouse pointer bigger; for animated packs, see How to change your mouse cursor on Windows 11.
1. Change the pointer color (built into Windows)
- Press Windows logo key + U to open Accessibility, or select Start > Settings > Accessibility.
- Select Mouse pointer and touch.
- Under Mouse pointer style, choose White, Black, Inverted, or one of the bright recommended colors.
- For any other color, select Choose another color (the plus sign) and pick one.
2. Make it bigger while you're there
On the same page, drag the Size slider under Mouse pointer. Microsoft's own pages describe sliding it to the right to make the pointer larger.
3. Show a pointer trail
On the same page you can turn on Mouse pointer trails, which shows where the pointer is moving on screen.
4. Change the whole look with a pointer scheme
- Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse.
- Under Related settings, select Additional mouse settings.
- In Mouse Properties, open the Pointers tab. Pick a different Scheme from the list, or select a single pointer under Customize, choose Browse, and pick a cursor file.
The honest limit: these are the built-in routes Microsoft documents: a pointer color, a size, a scheme, or a cursor file swapped in by hand.
If you want a different look, not just a different color
Disclosure: Solace Cursors is made by SolaceSoftware, the shop that publishes this guide.
Solace Cursors is a pack-based alternative: six animated cursor packs (Solace Glow, Neon Arcade, Pixel Pop, Kawaii Paw, Midnight and Spooky). It isn't a color picker. It swaps the whole set.
- All 17 Windows cursors change at once, with animated busy and working cursors.
- A size slider from 32 to 128 px.
- Optional click sparkles and a cursor trail that pause during full-screen games and video.
- Your original cursors are saved first; one click on Restore (or uninstalling) brings them back.
- No admin rights, no account, no telemetry.
Limits: some games draw their own cursor, and those are not changed. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The app isn't code-signed yet, so the first time you open it Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The shop page lists the size and SHA-256 of the exact ZIP so you can check it.
