Solace Crosshair

GUIDE

Crosshair overlay for Fortnite on PC

Short version: Fortnite doesn't support custom crosshairs, and an overlay is third-party software, which Epic does not officially support. Here is what Fortnite lets you change, and what an overlay does and doesn't do. For the general version of this topic, see our guide to custom crosshairs in windowed or borderless games.

1. What Fortnite lets you change

  • Custom crosshairs are not supported. Epic's own help page says so.
  • You can turn the reticle on or off. In the lobby, click your profile icon (top right), then Settings (gear icon), then the Game UI tab. Under Reticle & Damage Feedback, switch Reticle on or off, and click Apply.

2. Window mode matters for any overlay

In the lobby, open Settings > Video and find Window Mode under Display. The choices are Fullscreen, Windowed Fullscreen and Windowed. Click Apply to save. An overlay is a separate window drawn on top of the game, so it needs Windowed Fullscreen or Windowed; exclusive fullscreen can hide overlays.

3. The honest anti-cheat caveat

Epic Support says it cannot determine or disclose whether using a specific third-party program can lead to a ban in Fortnite, and that Fortnite and Epic Games do not officially support the use of third-party software; use it at your own risk. Bans can follow breaking Epic's Terms of Service or Community Rules. We can't tell you an overlay is safe in Fortnite, and we don't claim any game is compatible. If you aren't comfortable with that risk, stay with the in-game reticle setting above.

If you still want a fixed crosshair overlay

Disclosure: Solace Crosshair is made by SolaceSoftware, the shop that publishes this guide.

Solace Crosshair draws a crosshair in a separate always-on-top window, centred on the monitor you choose. It is not a Fortnite feature; it stays fixed in the centre of the monitor you pick.

  • Shape, size, thickness, gap, colour, opacity and outline, plus high-contrast presets.
  • Up to 10 profiles with global hotkeys: Alt+X show/hide, Alt+C and Alt+V switch profile, Alt+L settings.
  • No game injection, no hooks, no network connections, no account, no update check.

Limits, stated plainly: use Windowed Fullscreen or Windowed in Fortnite, because exclusive fullscreen can hide overlays. Anti-cheat in some online games may flag overlays; check each game's rules and use it at your own risk (the app shows the same warning on first start). Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The app isn't code-signed yet, so the first time you open it Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway. The shop page lists the size and SHA-256 of the exact ZIP so you can check it.

Quick answer

  • Custom crosshair in Fortnite itself: not supported by Epic.
  • Turn the reticle on or off: Settings > Game UI > Reticle & Damage Feedback.
  • Overlay: needs Windowed Fullscreen or Windowed, and carries a third-party-software risk that Epic won't rule on.
